  1. I was recommended trying out Jamun fruit for health reasons about a month back, but ever since I’ve been a little confused over what version exactly to purchase?

You mention in your article dried, frozen, juices, vinegar and even seed powder – I’m wondering which one is the best value for money and which one offers the best health options?

    1.  Hi. Thank you for reading!!

Jamun is seasonal fruit, so it is not available on a market all over a year. But you always can buy very good juices for 13-17$ a liter or  Jamun seeds powder for 7-12$ for 100 grams – depends on your needs. If you are healthy, juice will be the best choice.

But please, don’t confuse Jamun with Gulab Jamun. Gulab Jamun is something completely different and not healthy at all 😉

  2. Hi Alex,

I am so happy internally to read your blog and comment.

This blog made me nostalgic of my childhood growing up in India. My summer days were mostly on Jammun tree, hiding from studying, making my mouth and tongue purple, fill my stomach, then climb down. I had no knowledge of the therapeutic value of this product then.

The plethora of  critical symptoms it address are praise worthy. The clinical studies shows tremendous potential for cancer implications.

I have seen more and more use of Jammun seeds and fruits in India these days. It is easily available and will serve as a home remedy for diabetic population. The stability data looks really good.

Awesome review and thank you for sharing.

    1. Hi, Anusuya.
It is so nice to see you on my site. India is a beautiful country. I would love to visit it again.
And I think, it is right thing, that researchers seek advices from Mother Nature today, because today we consume a huge amount of chemical pills that help solve one problem, and at the same time create another one. If we could only reduce the consumption of chemical products, it would benefit us all.

  3. Wow nice fruit. Ayurveda is such an amazing medicine and I’ve become quite interested in it, since my girlfriend’s sister is actually practicing. I didn’t know about this fruit. I will try to find it in an Indian shop (not sure if I can find it, but I’ll try). Do you think this fruit can be recommended in anti-candida diet?

Anyway, thanks for the article, it’s very interesting.

    1. Hi, Ben.
      Thank you for reading!!

I don’t think that Jamun is suitable for anti-candida diet.

According to Ayurveda there are 3 basic rules to effectively fight candida:
      1. Following low-carbon diet (no sugar allowed);
      2. Consuming a lot of spices. The useful spices are ginger, white pepper, black pepper, coriander (leaf), turmeric, mustard (seed), cinnamon, clove, and cumin). Indian curry will be the best choice.
      3. Adaptogens to boost your immune system. It can be Ashwagandha or Ginseng or any other tonic for your immune system.

I hope, that it will help you.

      Best of luck

  4. Wow, I’ve never heard of the Jamun fruit before. It’s funny how the odd fruits and vegetables look the strangest and it’s also disappointing that something so good for us is harder to find, yet things like tomatoes are pretty much anywhere you can buy fruits and vegetables.

Do you have an online retailer in particular that you have ordered from or prefer over other retailers?

  5. Thank you for this wonderful post, it has been really helpful, I have a brother that is a diabetes patient and he has really spent a lot of Money on the illness, in fact he had to stop eating a lot of food, but I don’t think the drugs he is taking is working on him because his condition is still the same as ever. I am glad to have read this article, this may definitely be the cure he needs, since it is natural and less costly i don’t think he will have any problems taking it. Thank you for this post once again it is really helpful, I will definitely share it with my friends and family.

    1. Hi.
