So What Is Amla?

indian gooseberryAmla plant is a deciduous tree with a height of 5-8 m with a curved trunk and a light-green crown. The homeland of the Indian gooseberry is India and Southeast Asia. It has been successfully cultivated in India, Thailand, China, Ceylon and Malaysia. All parts of the plant are usually used for treatment, but the most useful substances are found in fruits. Amla fruits resemble gooseberry berries, hence the name Indian gooseberry. The amla hair oil is extracted during the fruits processing. Not only oil is made from the fruits, but also many other useful products, Chyawanprash and Triphala among them.

How To Choose High Quality Amla Oil

olive-oilThere are quite a few oils on the market that bear such a name. So, how to make a right choice? In fact, the healing properties of this plant can benefit only if you have a natural product in your hands, and not a fake one. The color of this oil can vary, since it is infused oil itself. This oil is not squeezed out of fruits, roots or leaves, manufacturers use the fruits of the plant, immersing them in oil obtained from other oil seeds.

But what kind of oil should it be? When buying such hair care products, pay attention to its composition. It is important that Indian hair oil would be made on the basis of natural vegetable oil, and not paraffin oil. In addition, of all types of oils that are used for the base, the advantage remains for sesame and coconut oils. If they can be found in the composition, then you have high quality product.

Usually, in addition to the carrier oil and the fruit of amla, the product may contain various useful herbal supplements. For example, aloe vera extract, ginger, henna, hibiscus, basil and more can be added to Indian hair oil. Certain properties of the oil and the ability to use it for different types of hair may depend on the specific ingredients added to the product. Therefore, if you want to fully enjoy the beneficial properties of natural Indian cosmetics, then before you buy Indian hair oil, choose a product with a suitable composition for you.

essential oilNow let’s talk about how exactly to use this oil to take care of your hair. Shake the bottle well before use. For one mask, 5 ml of oil will be enough; it is worth pouring it into a small container. Then dip your fingers into Indian gooseberry oil, and rub it into the hair roots with gentle movements. If your hair is dry and brittle, then oil should be applied along the entire length of the hair.

Then put a plastic cap on your head for 1-2 hours, so you will be able to follow your daily routine during the procedure. If you have enough patience, the mask can be kept longer — 6-8 hours. Anyway, Indian hair oil is absolutely harmless and you can keep it on your hair as much as you like. After the procedure, the head should be thoroughly washed with shampoo.

Are There Any Contraindications For Use?

Red Exclamation MarkA natural remedy is excellent for all types of hair, with a normal or damaged structure, but there are some limitations to use it. It is necessary to stop the use of amla in case of individual intolerance, because this product belongs to the “exotic” category.

To avoid allergies, check first the reaction of the body. Use a few drops, spread it on the wrist or the inside of the elbow. If after an hour you don’t notice any redness, you can safely use the substance for your own purposes.

Also, keep in mind that these hair masks are able to actively wash away the color of colored hair, so please be careful before the procedures.

And another nuance — the substance has a bright greenish color, which on a blond hair can give a certain tonality. Preliminary testing on a separate strand of hair will save you from negative consequences.

    1. Hi, Daniel.

Amla oil is good for nourishment and hair care. But if you have to treat the damaged hair, it is better to add 3-4 drops of Neem oil to the teaspoon of Amla oil. It will give the much better effect: Neem oil is well known for its healing properties.

  2. Waow! I am amazed to learn of this useful Alma oil. I’ve always had a problem with my hair breaking badly and unevenly that most times I end up cutting it down.
It’s sad that so many products claim they are all you need to fix this problem but at the end of the day, none lives up to expectation but I am really interested in this Alma Oil because it seems to be something Organic without so many chemicals and this makes me believe it may probably work out great.
Unfortunately, it seems your recommended company does not ship to the UK. Do you have any other company you can recommend? I would definitely love to give it a try. And will let you know how it goes. Thanks for the recommendation.

  3. To be honest I use to admire indian women and their hair, I never knew Amla oil is one of the secret to those long hairs, well good to know. I have been experiencing premature hair loss making it lack the moisture my hair needs. I love the fact that you listed the benefits of this oil which includes preventing loss of hair, this makes it noteworthy for me to use. Thank you for this review

    1. Hi.
Their secret is not only Amla oil. They have a very reach culture of hair care, both men and women. For example, they also use Bringha oil – an Ayurvedic cure for hairfall. Bringha Oil is prepared by using extracts from Bringha, a herb that is considered to stop hairloss. Sometimes Amla oil and Bringha oil are mixed together to achieve the better effect. You can see here very good example for such oil blend: Indulekha Bhringa Hair Oil.
